At ISZN, we take pride in celebrating the journeys of our students. This time, the spotlight is on Aryan, whose hard work, curiosity, and determination led to an exceptional set of IGCSE results and the school’s Outstanding Achievement Award.

From Exams to Exploration

For Aryan, the months leading up to the IGCSEs were filled with long study sessions, discipline, and the pressure of high expectations. Finishing the final paper brought both relief and pride. “Completing the exams gave me the satisfaction of having given my best effort,” he said.

Instead of resting for long, Aryan used his summer to explore new ideas. He travelled to India to attend the AI Bootcamp organised by the Times of India, where he developed skills in artificial intelligence, worked alongside other talented students, and eventually won first prize with his project NOVA: The School Without Walls. The award (an Apple MacBook) was only part of the reward. “This experience not only boosted my confidence but also gave me an early glimpse into the exciting possibilities of technology-driven learning and innovation.”

An Award-Winning Moment

Back in Zurich, Aryan’s results were announced: seven Grade 9s and one Grade 8. At a special school assembly, he received the Outstanding Achievement Award, recognising the highest academic performance in the IGCSE examinations.

“It was very kind of my teachers to recognise my achievements, but also very humbling to stand in front of the whole school while Mr. Nowell and Mr. Derrick read out my grades. I’m so glad the hard work paid off.”

Our Deputy Head of Secondary, Daniel Nowell, also reflected on the success of this year’s cohort: “We highly commend the dedication our teachers have shown in preparing students for their exams. We believe strongly in our students’ potential and look forward to seeing them thrive in this next stage of their journey.”

The results highlighted ISZN’s strengths across departments. Computer Science, English Language, French, and German achieved a 100% pass rate with an average grade of 7 or higher, while more than half of the students in Computer Science and French earned the top grade of 9.

Looking Ahead

Aryan now begins his A-Level studies with his eyes set on the future. “These accomplishments have strengthened my determination to aim for my dream university, ETH Zurich, and continue striving toward the next stage of my education with confidence and purpose. I’m deeply grateful for the constant encouragement and guidance of my wonderful teachers and parents.”

Aryan’s story reflects ISZN’s belief in giving students the space to aim high, follow their interests, and prepare for life beyond school.

Congratulations, Aryan!
