This week, our Primary students spent three unforgettable days at Pfadiheim Oberfald in the Kloten-Oberwald forest. Now in its second year at this peaceful Scout Lodge, the annual camp once again delivered a blend of excitement, teamwork and personal growth, perfectly aligned with our PYP belief that learning extends far beyond the classroom walls.

From the moment they arrived, children in Grades 1–5 tackled meaningful challenges that built resilience. Forest walks led straight into the ropes course—complete with zip‐line thrills—while den construction, parachute building and forest art encouraged creativity and problem‐solving in the natural world. Stand-up paddle boarding and swimming in the pool added the perfect splash of fun and freedom to busy days.

Afternoons were all about connection: frisbee, football, badminton and Capture the Flag tested cooperation and respect, as older students mentored younger ones—Grade 5 leaders guiding newcomers through rules and routines, and Grade 1 enthusiasts arriving on Day 2 with fresh energy. Tuesday evening’s family BBQ was a highlight: parents joined for heartfelt moments around the fire, watching children beam with pride as they shared their camp adventures.

Throughout it all, teachers saw genuine kindness and mutual support: a helping hand for those feeling homesick, thoughtful sharing of cabin space, and warm encouragement at every station. These moments exemplify the social and emotional goals of our programme, as much as the outdoor skills they developed.

We headed home—with tired legs but full hearts—carrying a suitcase of memories that no photograph could fully capture.
