Sharing Cultures, Building Community at ISZN’s First International Day Festival
ISZN hosted its first International Day Festival and brought the whole community together in a lively and welcoming atmosphere. Families, students, and staff shared their cultures through food, performances, and traditions.
Exploring cultures through food
The school transformed into a vibrant space filled with country stalls, each representing a different part of the world. Families prepared small tastings of national dishes and welcomed others to experience their culture. Using a simple token system, visitors could enjoy a variety of foods while supporting the PTA. Students explored each stall, collected stamps in their passports, and discovered new flavours and traditions along the way.
A stage full of energy
The performance stage added a dynamic element to the evening. Students and families took part in short performances, sharing music, dance, and cultural expressions connected to their heritage. Each moment on stage brought the community together and highlighted the diversity within the school.
The event also gave families the opportunity to take an active role in shaping the experience. Country representatives coordinated stalls, brought communities together, and created spaces that reflected their identity and traditions. This sense of ownership added to the atmosphere and made the evening feel personal and authentic.
Reflecting on the evening, Executive Principal of ISZN, James Stenning, shared: “Thank you to everyone who came to support the event. Whether you were running a stall, helping behind the scenes, or simply enjoying the food, it was a fantastic community event.”
Liz Heyer, Head of PTA, also shared her appreciation: “I want to thank all the amazing teachers and staff who made International Night such a special event. From helping with admin and setting up, to hosting tables and cleaning up, you showed real dedication to our students and families. Your efforts continue to make ISZN an open and welcoming place for everyone.”
