This week, ISZN welcomed younger students to its February Holiday Camp, which ran from Monday 9 February to Friday 13 February. Designed for existing ISZN pupils, the camp offered a week of creative and active experiences that combined fun with learning during the school holidays.

The camp followed a superhero theme, which shaped the week’s activities and created a shared sense of excitement. Students designed and created their own superhero costumes, including capes, masks, and shields. They then put their creations to use on the Stars Fitness Challenge course, where they tested strength and agility through movement and play.

Creative activities formed an important part of the programme. Children worked together to build cardboard box superhero cars, baked red, blue, and white cupcakes, and prepared cornflake cookies. Two special afternoon sessions added to the experience, with story time enjoyed alongside pizza toast and a movie session with popcorn.

Learning Through Play

The camp balanced learning and enjoyment through play-based activities that supported both cognitive and social development. Games, challenges, cooking, and creative projects allowed children to learn naturally while building confidence and independence in a relaxed and supportive environment. The superhero theme helped students explore positive behaviours and values in an engaging and meaningful way, while encouraging collaboration and friendship.

Supporting Confidence and Independence

Students responded with enthusiasm throughout the week. They enjoyed opportunities for independent learning, making choices and taking ownership of what they created and explored. Teachers supported this independence by guiding children closely and ensuring a safe and secure environment at all times.

The February Holiday Camp also supported families during the school holidays by providing a safe, reliable, and engaging setting where children were happy, active, and well cared for. Programmes like the ISZN February Holiday Camp played an important role in the wider life of the school, supporting children’s confidence, social development, and wellbeing while helping families maintain routines during the holiday period.
